Robot for painful partial knee

Robotic assisted knee surgery to improve accuracy of revision surgery.

MS had a partial knee replacement 14 years ago.

She was very happy with it until it started becoming painful and swollen in 2023. Her symptoms worsened over the following months, such that she started having to use a walking stick and became more reliant on help from her relatives and friends for every-day things like shopping.

Her assessment and X-rays showed that the remainder of her knee developed arthritis. After discussing her options we decided on Robotic Assisted conversion of her Partial to a Total Knee Replacement to restore her mobility and improve her symptoms.

This was the first time that I used VELYS™ for revision surgery. It made the whole process more accurate and allowed less invasive placement of her new knee replacement.

MS walked around her bedroom on the day of her surgery and was discharged home after 3 days. Her rehabilitation since has been excellent. 6 weeks after her surgery she was walking without any aids, and planning for her opposite knee to be treated in the same way.
